Whether you need a little inspiration or a complete refresh, our design service can help you. Here's what to expect:

 

1. Initial Consultation

We offer this service free of charge along with all quotations.

​

The design consultation is a chance for us to meet you and the garden in question. We’ll talk through project requirements, gain an understanding of the site, and help you to decide whether a design service is right for your ambitions. We can help with anything from planting design for your borders, through to a fresh new look for the entire garden.

 

With your permission, we’ll take a few photos and site measurements. Following the consultation, you’ll receive a report outlining our understanding of the brief with an estimate of the costs involved.

The fees and processes for our design services are outlined below. We are very happy to support with planting or lighting independently of the full design service.

 

2. Concept Design

From £495*

​

Following the consultation, we’ll create a bespoke design that works for your space.
The concept plan will outline one or more options for the core structure, flow and features of the garden. It may be presented alongside elevation drawings to help to bring our vision to life. 

Our designs are based on the principles of unity and harmony, which help us create gardens appropriate for the site and which complement your home and surroundings.

Once the plans have been presented, we'll give you the opportunity to digest and provide further input should you wish. Options to suit your budget will be discussed at this stage. 

 

3. Detailed Plans

From £495*

Let’s make it happen! The detailed plans are highly accurate scaled drawings which specify the exact materials and features to deliver your garden on budget. We may need to return to site to take measurements at this stage.

 

This detailed plan will provide the framework for the build and be supported by measurements and a written brief for the project and material choices. This will leave you with all the information you need should you not wish to gain quotations from other contractors. 

 

We will visit to discuss the final design, again making modifications at this stage should they be necessary. At this point we’ll discuss the requirements for the planting scheme and any technical drawings required. 

*This may increase slightly for large or complex gardens.

3.1 Technical Drawings (often not required)

​

In some cases, construction drawings may be needed to support the design. Construction drawings specify the construction of items such as water features, steps or walls. In certain circumstances, such as retaining walls over 1m high, a structural engineer may need to be consulted. Their fees are not costed here.

We will notify you at the Concept Design stage if construction drawings will be necessary. Depending on the project, these may range from £70-195 per feature.

4. Planting Plans

From £125 + plants
 

Planting plans are created based on client and designer discussions and the principle of ‘right plant, right place’ - selecting plants that will thrive in site conditions.

 

We can supply the plants, or provide you with a list including botanical names so that you can source yourself. We can provide you with care notes so that you can keep the plants looking their best long after we’ve left.
 

It goes without saying that the plants we select are hard-working and support biodiversity, as well as looking beautiful and providing essential structure or privacy.

If Green Bear is involved in the construction of the garden, we will of course lead on planting, and giving your garden the best start in life.

- Garden Lighting Plan

From £75
 

• Creating a lighting plan suitable to the scheme which keeps light pollution to a minimum. 

• A highly competitive costed list of lighting products including the circuitry, switching transformer, and lights.

- Garden Maintenance Package
 

£52 per year 

Plant Maintenance Schedule for an entire year. Regular guidance will be sent directly to your inbox at key moments. The fee covers one year of subscription, however, hang on to the emails and you'll have guidance for life. 

- Carbon Calculations

Fixed fee determined by garden size (ask for further detail)

• Calculate how many years your project will take to become carbon positive 

• Advice on environmentally friendly garden care

Construction

​

Should you choose to use us for the build, we will be on-site to help answer any questions and ensure the smooth running of the project. Once the work has been completed, we will help to advise on the maintenance of materials and how to get the best from your new outdoor space.
